A pop-up festival of German culture and the German language opened yesterday at the Smena Center for Contemporary Culture in Kazan. The opening ceremony of the event, organized within the framework of the Year of Germany in Russia, was broadcasted online. The opening was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of TatarstanDamirNatfullin.
Lectures on the history of the German music scene will be part of the educational block. The film program of the festival will allow the viewer to see Russian premieres of documentaries about representatives of the German music scene. An addition to the Pop-Up festival was a language program organized jointly with the Kazan Federal University (KFU) for everyone who is interested in the German language and is passionate about the topic of education.
"Due to the situation caused by spread of coronavirus, we are gathering today in a small circle, but, nevertheless, we are glad that this event is taking place. Thanks to modern technologies and media capabilities, we can still see more participants online now," - said Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kazan Arno Scheyer at the ceremony.
He noted that culture unites countries and peoples, and it is important that such events continue to be held in any possible format. Within the framework of the festival, together with the Smena center, a special project "Rodina-set" was organized, which included a musical program, a film program, an exhibition project and an educational cycle.
