Fond Kino (Cinema Foundation) announced a competition for support of cinemas

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan informs that the Fourth Cinema Contest has been held by the Fond kino, within the framework of which funds of 1 billion rubles will be allocated for  modernization and equipping of cinemas with digital equipment. The competition will cover the settlements of the Russian Federation with a population of up to 500 thousand people. The funds are provided for each cinema hall in the amount of up to 5 million rubles on a non-refundable basis. An indispensable condition for a converted cinema hall is  demonstration of films of domestic production in the amount of not less than 50% of the cinema sessions per quarter.

The program of supporting  cinemas is aimed at expansion of the geography of film screenings in the country. The reason for the launch of the program was a low level of cinematography in the Russian Federation. We remind  that in 2015 and in 2016, the Cinema Foundation has already allocated three funds for  modernization and equipping of digital cinema equipment. As a result of the three previous competitions, 434 halls have been received in 395 settlements of 70 subjects of the Russian Federation, including 18 municipal cinemas in the Republic of Tatarstan.
