One third of the world countries - in a bidding campaign of the 13th Kazan Film Festival

Receiving applications for participation in the 13th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival has completed. During the campaign, the organizing committee registered 782 applications from 61 countries. Members of the selection committee have already begun to get acquainted with the films. The competitive shortlist of feature, documentary and animation tapes will be determined on July 1.

Among the participants of the festival prize-winner of the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 are present, the Afghan director Sarban Sadat, the famous Chinese producers and directors Van Xuebo and Zhang Wei, the Tajik film director and screenwriter Sharofat Arabova, and others.

The geography of the festival is expanding every year. If in 2013 about 300 applications were submitted,  in 2016 - 703. This year a lot of work is announced from the countries of South and South-East Asia (Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh). The number of films from Russia is steadily growing. In all variety of genres and forms the cinema of Egypt and the Arabian countries is presented. Selection of applicants for the prizes of the festival is carried out by a special commission headed by film critic Sergei Lavrentiev (Moscow). The commission also included Ivan Forgach (Hungary), Sergey Anashkin (Yekaterinburg) and Adil Khaybullin (Kazan). The verdict will be announced in a month.

Traditionally, the 13th International Muslim Film Festival will be held in Kazan from September 5 to 11, 2017. The place of opening and closing of the festival   the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater after  M. Jalil  is chosen.
