The National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan invites residents and guests of Kazan to witness a bright sport and cultural event - the Museum Regatta-2017.
From June 8 to 12, 2017, at the initiative of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Sailing Federation of Kazan, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Museum Regatta will be held.
The museum regatta is part of a large project of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan - "Volga and Kama: Open History", which involves studying history of the great Russian rivers, creating exhibitions and publishing information products dedicated to the Volga and Kama.
The museum regatta should activate activity of museums and support development of sailing in the republic as well as draw attention to the historical heritage of the region and contribute to increasing the interest of residents and guests of Tatarstan to traditions of historical shipbuilding and yachting, the prototype of which appeared in Russia in the 18th century In St. Petersburg, the Nevsky Fleet was established, representing a prototype of modern yacht clubs).
Athletes from all over the republic, as well as Cheboksary, Nizhny Novgorod, Togliatti, Ulyanovsk and other cities will take part in the regatta. The route will pass along the picturesque water area of the Volga towards the State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve "Ostrov-grad Sviyazhsk".
This year, spectators will be able to watch the course of the race from the top of the Pechishchi geological section (Pechishchi village), where a beautiful panorama of the Volga opens up. The culmination of the Museum Regatta will be the Parade of yachts, which will take place in the water area of island Sviyazhsk.
In the course of the sports regatta, a rich museum and cultural program will be organized for the participants and spectators of the competitions, within the framework of which excursions will be organized to the Y. Kupala Museum in the village. Pechishchi and the State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve "Island-Grad Sviyazhsk".
