Dolls of the World in Yelabuga

The   Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve has  opened a unique exhibition of toys.

The exposition opens  a vivid world of dolls of different nations for visitors.  It has  collected 278 exhibits from more than 100 countries.

The exhibition not only impresses  by  a variety of toys, but also their appointment. Where you can learn, for example, for which there are doll-Changeling and why the doll-Desyatiruchka has  many limbs. The exhibition also presents elegant Japanese porcelain dolls and ancient anthropomorphic figurines that depict various deities or  once   featured as a ransom sacrifice, "trap" for the evil spirits, amulets, or mascot. Another section – mystery  dolls and puppets. Their story allows us to see all the diversity of roles and functions of these toys, symbolizing the ancestor or descendant of the keeper of the soul, depicting a deity or some spiritual essence of human.

And yet, in the first place, the doll is associated with the toy, so the exhibition will be interesting for both children and adults.
