Today in Yelabuga has opened scientific and practical conference devoted to the 185th anniversary of the birth I.I. Shishkin and the 160th anniversary of the birth of V.M. Bekhterov. It is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Elabuga municipal district, the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve and the Yelabuzhsky Institute of Kazan Federal University.
The conference was attended by over 100 people: the descendants of Shishkin and Bekhterov from Russia and Finland, representatives from the RT ministries of culture and health, scientists, researchers, heads of museums and institutions of higher education across the country.
A welcoming speech to the participants performed Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Svetlana Persova. "Today, the Yelabuga Museum-Reserve is doing much to preserve the memory of its famous countrymen. The city is a memorial complex dedicated to the famous Russian painter, and the uyezd(county) medical museum is named after the famous scientist neuropsychiatrist. Tomorrow, citizens and guests of honor will venerate the memory of the famous countrymen: at the Saviour Cathedral a memorial service for Ivan Shishkin will be held, and at the Peter and Paul Church in the village of Bechterewo - a requiem for Bekhterev is to be held. Also, city tours and visiting museums are planned. The House-Museum of I.I. Shishkin two exhibitions will open: the last disciple of the famous artist – G.I.
