Memorial Day of L.N. Tolstoi: “Keep the memory of me, Kazan”
November 20, at 12.00pm, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan invites all connoisseurs of the famous writer and philosopher to the of Square of Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoi where a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument to Leo Tolstoy will be held.
Leo Tolstoy came to our city in 1841, in 1844 he joined the Department of Oriental Languages Faculty of Philosophy, in 1845 he transferred to the Faculty of Law, and in 1847 left Kazan, not completing his studies. The years spent by the future writer in Kazan and the Kazan region, became a milestone in his life. Here, L.Tolstoy makes the first attempts at writing, begins to keep a diary, comes to the idea of a rethinking of values in life, and this is where the "birth of a genius" takes place.
Departure did not rip living connection between Tolstoi and Kazan. More than once a writer came here, followed the development of life in the city, Kazan was among his many correspondents and visitors, and our city keeps the memory of Leo Tolstoi.
On this day, the pupils of the Kazan Suvorov Military School will show the documentary "Polustanok (substation )" about the last days of Leo Tolstoi at the station Astapovo Ryazan-Ural Railway and lecture "Tolstoi and Kazan."
