October 30, 2016, Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression in Sviyazhsk

This memorable day has been  established in the Russian Federation since 1991, for Sviyazhsk  it  is of a particular importance; it is dedicated to the unforgettable tragic page of the history of the island-town of the late 1930s - early 1950s, returns to the memories of the fate of people caught up in the hardest conditions here in prison.

October 30, 2016,   members of the  Public humanitarian organization of pensioners and disabled people - Republic of Tatarstan victims of political repression, Moscow and the Kirov districts  of Kazan, descendants Sviazhskys prisoners will visit Sviyazhsk.

The program of events will start at 11.30am, with  rally at the monument to victims of political repression. The monument was erected by the wall of the Dormition Mother of God Monastery in 2011.

The main event of the day - presentation of the book, by  A.G. Loshadkin "Kazan ravines and their use", which will be held in the conference hall of the museum-reserve after the end of the rally.

Andrey Gurevich Loshadkin (1881 - 1942) - a native of Kazan province, a resident of Kazan, an agronomist and a painter, a wonderful person. In 1938, he was arrested under Article 58 as an "enemy of the people", the last period of his life was held in Sviyazhsk colony. Prisoner A.G. Loshadkin was used as a specialist in agriculture, afforestation, fisheries. Here in Sviyazhsk, his spiritual strength, originality of  personality  manifested in a special way   - he painted, wrote works on agriculture and methods of teaching drawing, using "technical" wrapping paper. In letters home to Kazan asked to send materials for   materials.  A.G. Loshadkin  died in Sviyazhsk in 1942.

Book   by  A.G. Loshadkin "Kazan ravines and their use" has been  published in 2016 on the initiative of Viktor Andreevich  Loshadkin (born in 1926), the author's son and contemporary of the  events.

At the  presentation will speak members of the drafting group, who have prepared the book for publication, descendants of A.G. Loshadkin.

For the participants of the events  tours of the island-city and exposition of the Museum of History of Sviyazhsk, with a visit to the section on the period of political repression  will be held.

All events are held on a charitable basis.
