"The Volga and the Yangtze - the great rivers of friendship"

In August, 2015, during  "round table" meeting  past  in China  of the  leaders of the Volga Federal District and the upper, the middle courses  of the Yangtze River, People’s Republic of China,   in a "Volga-Yangtze" format, an agreement was signed between the government of Tatarstan and the People's Government of Sichuan Province on trade-economic, scientific and technical and cultural cooperation.

In this connection, October 7, 2016, at 15.00pm, at the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan  a joint exhibition "Volga and the Yangtze - the great river of friendship" will open,  which is held under cognominal  international exhibition project, sponsored by the museum "Lenin Memorial» (Russian Federation , Ulyanovsk) and Hunan provincial Museum (China).

The purpose of the project - to present  historical and cultural heritage of the peoples residing  the basins of two great national rivers - the Volga and the Yangtze, relations between Russia and China, Hunan, and the Ulyanovsk region, to encourage cooperation between the regions of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation and the provinces of the upper and middle streams of the Yangtze River of China in different areas,  development of tourism.

As part of the exhibition project  exhibitions are organized  in the Chuvash National Museum, Samara Regional History Museum  after  P.V.Alabin, the museum "Lenin Memorial" (Ulyanovsk), in Nizhny Novgorod in the framework of the forum "Great Rivers (Ecological, hydrometeorological, energy security)» / ICEF. The project to be  culminated  by the  exhibition of Hunan Provincial Museum of China (PRC).

The partners are   the following : the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ulyanovsk regional museum of local lore after  I.A. Goncharov, Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum, River Fleet Museum (Nizhny Novgorod), Volgograd Regional Museum, the Museum of Local History  of Saratov,  the Astrakhan state united historical and architectural museum-reserve, as well as the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of RF President in the Volga Federal District, Department for International Development of the Foreign relations,  Administration of the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, OGKU "Ulyanovsk regional resource center for tourism development and service."

The National Museum is famous for its collection of Chinese objects. Thanks to the exhibition "Volga and the Yangtze - the great rivers of friendship" we have a unique opportunity to show these amazing things. A new exhibition will feature a variety of artifacts that reflect the culture of China. A special place is occupied by objects of ethnography (embroidered handbags for decorating  clothing, pillows details,  male headphones for the cold season and tiny ladies shoes), samples of Chinese art crafts ( carved wooden boxes, painted paper fans), porcelain, religious figurines XVIII -XIX centuries.

The exhibition runs until December 2016.
