From September 18 to 20 at the Museum-Reserve "The Kazan Kremlin" an international round table devoted to the book of Ibn Fadlan, his epoch and archaeological collections is being held.
On February 19, the Center "Hermitage-Kazan" started its exhibition "Journey of Ibn Fadlan: Volga route from Baghdad to Bulgaria". For the exhibition their collections have presented leading Russian museums. This is the biggest number of the participants for 11 years of existence of the Kazan representative of the State Hermitage. Among the exhibits monuments of arts and crafts and jewelry made by peoples of Eastern Europe, the works by potters and glass blowers from the Middle East, most of which are on display for the first time. The exhibition, created especially for Kazan, aroused great interest of the museum visitors.
At the suggestion of General Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky and director of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafael Khakimov the conference - round table dedicated to the notes of Ibn Fadlan and his era was scheduled.
His papers have been presented by specialists from the UK. Azerbaijan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan, Samara, Volgograd and, of course, Kazan, the press service of "The Kazan Kremlin informs."
