September 5 in Kazan the XII International Festival of Muslim Cinema is due to open. The symbolic start of the forum will be the screening of the Iranian film director Majid Majidi "Muhammad - Messenger of God." The film, created in 2015, is by far the most costly (about 50 mln. $) And time consuming (10 years) project in the history of cinema in Iran. The film received a wide acclaim in different countries and in 2015 was nominated for the "Oscar" by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts in a nomination "Best Foreign Language Film."
The film "Muhammad - the Messenger of the Most High" is the first part of the trilogy "The Life of the Prophet Muhammad." It is dedicated to the Prophet's childhood (from birth to 12 years) and at the same time is a bright palette of a little-known in the west of the historical period of the rise of Islam. Long before the start of filming by director Majid Majidi and famous Iranian historian Kambudzhiya Partavi having held a tremendous research work, carefully studied dozens of ancient historical texts stored in the Middle East (Lebanon, Iraq) and in Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia). For holding principal shooting a place was chosen in the 55 kilometers from Tehran (on the way to the city of Qum), the landscape which is very similar to the ancient nature of Mecca and Medina. It is here cinema town "Nur"(Light) was built. Part of the filming took place in the Iranian province of Kerman and Bushehr (Dasht-e Lut desert and the coast of the Persian Gulf), as well as in South Africa.
In shooting a large-scale project eminent actors of Iran: Mahdi Pakdel, Shoji Alireza Nouri, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Dariush Farhang, Mina Sadat Sara Bayat took part; the experts from different countries were invited: the famous Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro (among the works of which the three films won the "Oscar"), editor Roberto Perpignan, special effects director Scott Andersen, composer Allah Rakhi Rahman, artistic director Mohsen Ebrahimi Shah and others. Opening of the Film of XII KIFMC "Muhammad - the Messenger of the Most High" will be shown on September 5 at 14.00 and 16.00 in the cinema "Rodina" (free entrance), and on September 5 at 19.00 in the cinema "Korston" (entrance fee).

Majid Majidi belongs to a generation of talented filmmakers of Iran, started his activities after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. This is a generation that has grown up in an atmosphere of popularization of Islamic art and was able to conquer the world with their talent.
Majid Majidi was born in 1959 in Tehran. At age 14, he made his acting debut in the play "The movement of hurufits" (dir. Davud Daneshvar). In 1982, Majidi made his debut as a film actor in the movie "Interpretation" (dir. Manouchehr Khagani Parastu), followed by successful roles in Mohsen Makhmalbaf "Two Blind Eyes" (1984), "Boycott" (1985) and Ali Asghar Shadravana "Shooting "(1987). In parallel with the actor's work Majidi tried his hand as a director of short films. Widely known Majidi earned his first full-length film "Baduk" (1992), which won the prize of the International Film Festival "Fajr", held annually in Tehran.
