At 18:30, on March 19,  at the bookstore "Kniga +", a meeting  with Vladimir Medinsky  - a politician and statesman,  the  author of " Stena (The Wall)", "War Myths of USSR 1939-1945..", a series of books "Myths about Russia"  to be held.  The author will answer questions of interest to his  readers, discuss his  books, received a lot of feedback, sign books for everyone.

 

Vladimir Medinsky - Russian state and political figure, deputy of the State Duma of the fourth and fifth convocations, member of the Supreme Council of the political party "United Russia", Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation since 2012.   V. Medinsky  is known as a writer and journalist, author of popular science books on advertising, public relations and history,  he  cooperates with the publishing house "Olma Media Group": here a series "Myths about Russia", the book "War. Myths of the Soviet Union. 1939-1945",and "Characteristics of the national PR. A true  history of Russia from Rurik to Peter ", together with a journalist and a colleague at the State Duma Alexander Khinshtein the  work "Crisis " were printed.  According to the publisher,  in 2015 the total circulation of the historical books by   V. Medinsky  exceeded one million copies of the book,  passed 110 editions and reprints. In 2012,   the first artwork  by  V. Medinsky  - adventure novel "The Wall", dedicated to the events of the Time of Troubles appeared.

 

The series "Myths about Russia" is written based on scenarios  by V. Medinsky  to the eponymous TV show, aired on "TV Center" channel. The series includes three books in the genre of nonfiction: "On the Russian drunkenness, laziness and cruelty", "On the Russian democracy, the mud and the" prison of peoples "," On Russian theft, a special way, and long-suffering "; in   each,  the  author refutes  stereotypes about the country and its history, which  he considers  false. Books have passed  several editions, in audiobook format, in the form  of digest "skeletons out of the closet in Russian history" and in parts pocket-book format were published.

 

In February 2012, "Olma Media Group"  released the first artwork  by V. Medinsky  -  adventure novel "The Wall" about the events of the Time of Troubles. Exit  of the   book was timed to coincide with the bicentennial of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 and the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow, in which the Second People's Militia forces defeated the army of Hetman Khodkiewicz – a  turning point of  Troubles. The central part of the story was the defense of Smolensk,  besieged by troops of the Polish King Sigismund III during the Russian-Polish war of 1609-1618 years. Before sending for  print   the  book was  reviewed  by  Doctor of Historical Sciences, a leading scientific worker of the Institute of Russian History Lyudmila Morozova and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church - the head of the publishing house of the Moscow Patriarchate, Vladimir Silovyev and professor at the Moscow Theological Academy, Andrei Kuraev. "The Wall" received high marks for attention to detail and historical detective story. At the beginning of 2016,  on the TV channel "Russia-1"  the film adaptation of the novel has been planned, filmed   by  director Dmitry Meskhiev.
