March 10, 2016, at 17.00, in a conference hall of the National Museum of Tatarstan, at the meeting of the club "Sovremenik" a creative meeting of readers with the author of the novel "Zuleikha opens his eyes," Guzel Yakhina will be held.
Our lady - contemporary, is already widely known. Her stories "Moth" and "Rifle" were published in magazines "Neva" and "October", but a real discovery for the Russian literary community became the novel "Zuleikha opens her eyes" - a piercing story of the woman peasant from the remote Tatar village Yulbash subjected to repression and sent along with hundreds of other migrants to the Angara River, experienced a "hard path". The theme of the fate of the dispossessed and their hard life in the remote villages in Siberia sounded in her new novel, suddenly and vividly.
At the international book fair the book received an Honorable award "Book of the Year", and its author became a laureate of "Star Ticket" international literary prize, the winner of the oldest and prestigious Russian Award "Yasnaya Polyana" in the "XXI Century".
Guzel Yakhina has been awarded also the Russian National Literary Prize "Big Book", which is equal in importance to the Prix Goncourt in France and the Cervantes Prize in Spain.
During the meeting an acquaintance with the author of the novel and her creative workshop will be held.
