Internet museum of the Great Patriotic War of the Republic of Tatarstan: the results of the first year of work

On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the victory in 2014, at  the initiative of the Government of Tatarstan a unique project to create a virtual online museum dedicated to the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945   has been launched. In February 2015, it  took its  place in the space of the Internet. The main task - to perpetuate the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland and raise patriotism among the youth and students, the opposition to extremism and fascist sentiment,  to  show the heroism of the workers in the rear, and the combat feats  of our compatriots in  fighting on the fronts of the war, the total contribution   Tatarstan  to the victory.

Presentation of the collections on the Internet is becoming increasingly popular, and the main advantage - it is informative and accessible. There is a website devoted to the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945  acquaint  with the events of the war years, the activities of the individual museums of the Great Patriotic War, searching  and social organizations.

A  virtual Museum of the Great Patriotic War in  the RT is a unique  one  in that it is one of the first resources of national character, which brings together the collection of wartime state, municipal, school, departmental and public museums of the republic as well as archives and libraries.

Coordinator of work on the creation of the site was the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, as it  by  its fundst  provides  the largest collection of World War II, has a long experience in creating exhibitions, and established long-term professional contacts with the scientific community,  veteran and  search  organizations.

The virtual museum   has  become a unifying information platform and an extensive reference base, which allows to obtain reliable information about the events of the war years, based on research and original collections. The information is presented in two official languages ​​of Tatarstan, in the structure of eight main sections:

Book of Remembrance - a personal guide of the dead and missing soldiers. Daily adjustment section and reference database are  being processed.

Catalogue of  Collections - summary database containing descriptions and images; Information pages devoted to real, documentary, visual materials from the collections of the RT National Museum,  local history and departmental museums, as well as video tours of the museum.

Gallery - audio, photo and video period 1941-45.

Pages of Fame - a section dedicated to personalities, famed for their  republic military and labor feats during the Great Patriotic War.

Memory - section to perpetuate the memory of heroes, veterans' activities, search and other public organizations

Encyclopedia of Victory - the basis section  make up  the research, and bibliographic database, publication, summaries, abstracts, and an interactive section for those interested in the history of World War II, with significant media component.

My family archive - a platform for Internet users  where they can post personal and family documents of the war period, audio and video memories of war and labor veterans, etc.

News - section, which contains the events that took place throughout the year in the republic.

The republic  has more than 30 bureaus, which  support  the website : place the new data collections and exhibits, news in Russian and Tatar languages. During 2015 the  bureau has placed more than 3,120 news articles on the topic of the Great Patriotic War presented more than 2520 personalities - war veterans.

During the year the Virtual Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 it was  visited   by 75,254  people. Among  whole variety of military subjects tatfrontu.ru  takes  3  place after the site Memorial of the Great Patriotic War http://kremnik.ru/ (it works already 6 years old) and the Central Museum of the Armed Forces http: //www.cmaf. ru / ( 10 years).

The target audience of the Internet –museum   became all categories of the population  being  active users of the Internet - school and college students, scientists, veterans and their families, as well as those interested in history. Active visitors of the site are not only the people of the Russian Federation but also other countries such as Ukraine, USA, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany, Canada.
