The Second Book Salon "Russian book in Paris" was held in France earlier this year. Tatarstan was represented by the poet prose writer Lilia Gazizova and Guzel Yakhina , who had long lived in Moscow. They are both members of the Writers' Union of Tatarstan.
About the level of the forum one can judge by the participation in it of such famous Russian writers as Andrei Bitov, Viktor Yerofeyev, Valery Popov, Alexander Snegirev, German Sadulayev and others.
All the events were held in the Salon of City Hall of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, which is located in the heart of the French capital. Lilia Gazizova presented her collection of poems, "The people of February", published by the Moscow publishing house "Voymega" in 2013, and Guzel Yakhina – a much talked – of novel "Zuleikha opens her eyes," also published in Moscow. Creative meetings were accompanied by French interpreters.
This extraordinary event was of great interest from both Russian readers living in France, and from the French. As president of Book Fair Irina Rekshan noted, "the salon remains true to its goals - the popularization of modern Russian literature in all the richness of its geographical and stylistic diversity, interest to which in France has been steadily increasing."
On the last day the participants of the Book Salon were received at the residence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in France, Alexander Orlov, who in his welcoming speech said that literature still continues to unite Russia and France, and thanked all the authors for their participation.
