Kazan Opera soloist Gulnora Gatina wins the contest in Italy

The soloist of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet  after M. Dzhalil  Gulnora Gatina  has  won a prestigious Italian competition for young opera singers Concorso Per Giovani Cantanti Lirici D'Europa held in  Komo from January  7 to 10, 2016.

The contest is held in Italy since 1950, in the past, its  winners became famous singers Renata Scotto (1953), Mirella Freni (1958), Maria Chiara (1963), Katia Ricciarelli (1969), Giuseppe Sabbatini (1987), Luigi Di Donato (2001), and others. Since 2000, the competition is held in the format of the casting young singers (under 32 years) in the performance of parties in certain plays (participants perform compulsory program, as well as arias from the required performance).

The contest of 2016 represented casting for a part in Puccini's opera "Turandot": Gulnora Gatina has been recognized as the winner of "selection" for the role of Liu.

Gulnora Gatina graduated from Simferopol Musical College  after  P.I.Tchaikovsky (class of  L.R.Chalbasheva) and the Kazan State Conservatory  after N. Zhiganov (class of prof. Z.D.Sungatullina). Winner of vocal competitions and festivals, Gulnora Gatina represents the Republic of Tatarstan on the opera days, organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture "TURKSOY" (2011). She is the winner of the II prize at the Second International Singing Competition Vissi D'Arte (Prague, 2014). In the summer of 2015 she won the audition to participate in the production of the opera "Madame Butterfly" and played the role of Cio-Cio-San in Orvieto (Italy).
