From February 1 to 20, 2016, the XXXIV International Opera Festival named after F.I.Shalyapin will take place on the stage of the M. Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. The festival program will consists of to 14 performances and concerts featured by the stars of the world and Russian opera. Tickets for the festival go on sale December 15th, 2015
The festival will open the season premiere - opera "Il Trovatore" by J. Verdi directed by Efim Meisel (February 1). J. Verdi will become the most performed composers of the festival - in the playbill includes just 5 of his masterpieces, in addition to the "Troubadour" is "La Traviata" (February 7), "Rigoletto" (February 10), "Aida" (February 12) and "Nabucco" (February 17 ). Worthy music of P. Tchaikovsky will be presented - February 15 audience will hear "lyrical scenes", "Evegeny Onegin", and on February 2 the "Queen of Spades" will be given in a concert performance. On the day of the birth of Fyodor Chaliapin traditionally will show a national musical drama "Boris Godunov" by Mussorgsky (February 13). The program also includes a comic opera "The Barber of Seville" by G. Rossini (February 3) and tragic "Turandot" J. Puccini (February 9).
A special highlight of the festival will be a preview of «Dona nobis pacem» («Grant us peace", February 6) to the music of J.S. Bach's Mass in B Minor, staged by an outstanding dancer and choreographer Vladimir Vasiliev. The world premiere took place in Kazan in the spring of 2015; April 18, 2015, the day of the 75th anniversary of V. Vasilyev, "Messiah" was shown in Moscow at the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. It is expected that Vladimir Vasiliev will visit the play within the Shalyapin Festival -2016 and stand at conductor’s desk at the beginning of the action, as it was done at the Bolshoi Theatre.
Attention of music lovers will surely attract solo concert by stars of the world stage Albina Shagimuratova. For the first time in the modern history of the festival will take place in a chamber concert format – Albina will not perform under the accompaniment of a symphony orchestra, but to be accompanied by brilliant pianist Boris Berezovsky. The concert will take place on February 16.
The program of the festival to be completed by a gala concert with participation of soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.
Tickets for the performances of the festival - from 500 to 2000 rubles, galas - from 800 to 3500 rubles.
