From December 1 to 4, in Nizhnekamsk, a significant musical event took place. With a big success the XII Public National Vocal Competition named Salih Saidashev took place. This is one of the most important vocal contests in Tatarstan.
The contest is named after the founder of professional musical art, the Tatar composer Salih Saidashev. His vocal pieces - arias from dramas and songs have been included in a compulsory competition program. The main goals of the contest are to identify and support talented young people, to promote the development of national music and traditions of national vocal art.
The founders of the competition are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the administration of Nizhnekamsk municipal district of Tatarstan.
The Vocal Competition has been established in 1990 in honor of the 90th anniversary of the birth of S. Saidashev traditionally is held once every 2 years.
The choice of venue of the competition was not accidental - Nizhnekamsk College of Music is named after the famous Tatar composer.

The of jury XII Open National Vocal Contest named after Salih Saidashev since 1998 has been traditionally headed by Professor of Kazan state conservatory named after N. Zhiganov, People's Artist of Russia and Tatarstan Z.D. Sungatullina (Kazan), the jury also included Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, Professor of MGIM after A.G. Shnitke A.S. Belousova (Moscow), People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, Associate Professor M.S. Sharipov (Ufa), Honored Worker of Culture of Tatarstan, Nizhnekamsk Professor of College of Music after S. Saydashev Z.V.Sharafutdinova.
This year the competition has received about 50 applications from different Russian cities: Nizhnekamsk, Kazan, Ufa, Volgograd, Orenburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, Oktyabrskoye, Naberezhnye Chelny, Almetyevsk.
Contestants presented to the jury a bulk program. All the participants of the contest works performed by heart in the original language. A mandatory program of the I round included a song by S. Saidashev, the work of the Baroque and folk song of any nationality. In the II round will be three different works by composers of XVIII-XXI centuries. The program of the final round consisted of arias of foreign or Russian composers and aria or song by S. Saydashev.
The competition was held at a high professional level.
