Tatarstan pupil is the winner of the International Competition "European Braille essay"

The contest "European Braille essay"  is  held  by  the European Blind Union on behalf of the companies' Onkio Co., Ltd "and" Braille Mainichi "in order to encourage the blind to use Braille as a tool for access to information and social inclusion in society.

For the first time in six years of Russia's participation in the Competition of the European Union of the blind (ESS) "World Braille essay Onkio Braille 2015" the main winner among the participants from 14 countries  became  a representative of our country - Vladislav Ivanov, 8th grade student of the State Budget  special (correctional) educational institution for pupils  with disabilities "Laishevsky special (correctional) boarding school type III-IV."

In 2015, the competition was held on the following topics:

- "The role of Braille in involving people with visual impairment in  political, economic, cultural, social and family life." Braille in the age of technology, the use of Braille at any age, Braille and participation  in the elections - just a few examples of how to interpret the main theme;

- "Life with Braille - we call  to  write about the role of Braille teachers, translators into Braille, who somehow uses Braille or would like to use."

The work   by  Vladislav Ivanov  is  among the 24 participants from 19 regional organizations of   the WOB is among the first five best essays selected by the National Selection Committee of Russia headed by the vice-president of WOB  L.P. Abramova. The National Selection Committee undertook a translation into English and sent to the selection committee of the European Union of the blind in electronic form.  The work    by Vladislav  has  fascinated  organizers of the competition. The verdict of the jury sounded like this: "... a work that inspires great,  the  author describes his experience studying reading and writing Braille and how it affected the establishment of emotional relationship with books and reading in general in the future. The work is well structured narrative on establishing a strong link between Braille and development of the personality of the author. "

We remind that the Laishevsky school pupils are the winners of this prestigious international competition not the first time. In 2009, the school pupil Alexei Zolnikov was the winner in one of the nominations, the press service of the Republican Special Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired   informs.
