In Sviyazhsk from October 9 to November 9 at the Exhibition Hall "Staraya Vodonaponaya Bashnya" exposition of the III Kazan International Biennale print graphics "Vsadnik", dedicated to the Year of Russian literature is under way .
Biennale - an exhibition, which takes place every two years in Kazan, is organized since 2011 and has already gained popularity among graphic artists from different countries. Kazan Biennale is organized by the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Artists Union of Tatarstan (section drawing) and informal creative association "Grafcom" supported by the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan. In 2015, they were joined by the State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve "The Island of Sviyazhsk."
Sviyazhsk in 2013 became the center of the graphic workshops (curators of the project A.M. Artamonov and O.L. Ulemnova). Their goal - to provide an opportunity for artists from different countries to plunge in the architectural and artistic environment of one of the jewels of Russia - the island-town Sviyazhsk with its unique monuments of Russian architecture and painting of XVI-XIX centuries and create a graphic interpretation of the island-city, its monuments, its ancient history , the people inhabiting it, or having ever the relation to it. The result was the opening of the museum on the basis of Sviyazhsk Center prints, as well as a series of exhibitions, creative projects such as "Sviyazhsk - book artist", "Sviyazhskaya ukha (fish soup)."
The opening of the III International Biennale Sviyazhsk print graphics "Vsadnik " as part of a large and significant exhibition project, having been launched on October 6 in Kazan, indicates the inclusion of the island-town in the area of graphic art that has ancient traditions. Biennale aims to stimulate the interest of artists and audiences to the traditional prints and new types of printmaking, appearing with new materials and technologies (excluding digital printing). Thus Biennale promotes the exchange of artistic ideas and experiences of artists of different cities, regions and countries.
In 2015, we expanded the geography and the number of participants of Kazan Biennale. It was attended by artists from Russia and 12 countries of near and far abroad. Among them are well-known masters of engraving, such as Mikhail Pogarsky (Moscow), Vladimir Zuev (Nizhny Tagil), Petter Pettersson (Sweden), Roberto Dzhaninetti (Italy), Rinat Minnebaev (Ufa), etc., And a large number of young artists that particularly are pleased that indicates the growing popularity of this art form.
