September 5, Kazan hosts XI International Festival of Muslim Cinema. An international jury will assess the competitive program, consisting of five well-known filmmakers - representatives of Russia, Latvia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, People's Artist of the Uzbek SSR Elyor Ishmuhamedov rightly is called a master of poetic cinema lyrics. One of his first films " Tenderness" (1966) won a prize at the Locarno International Film Festival, and has the following - "Lovers" - has become a real classic of the Soviet cinema. During director’s "Russian period" best known for the series "Kate: Military history." Elyor Ishmuhamedov’s new work - the film "Gvozd" (2014), a melodrama about the "wrong side" of actor’s profession will be presented the audience of XI Kazan Film Festival as part of the non-competition program.
Kazakhstan will be presented by film director, screenwriter, producer, artist, architect, director of Eurasia Film Festival Rashid Nugmanov. International fame came to director after the film "Igla" (1988) by Viktor Tsoi in a title role. In 2010, Rashid Nugmanov shot a remix of cult movie, completing and developing its plot.
Latvian theater and film actress Mirdza Martinsone known for her roles in European and Soviet films "Death under sail", "The Last Walk", "Red Bells" and others. The role Ginny Gordon in the TV film "Mirage" by Alois Brench brought the actress the most popularity. Currently, having ended a career in cinema, Mirdza Martinsone plays on the stage of the Art Theatre in Riga.
The jury entered also Tatarstan director, member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Ildar Yagafarov. One of his first works - the film "Kuktau" (2004) - received the prize "Kinotavr" and European festivals in Germany and the Czech Republic, then appeared on Russian TV screens. The movie is the first feature film in Tatar language.
