September 8-12, in Kazan, the International Museum Forum is to be held, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan.
In spite of the mobility and active development, new museums have to prove and confirm its effectiveness and usefulness to society, preserving and promoting the common cultural values, ideas of humanism and tolerance.
A large number of alleged participants in the forum show the interest not only from Russia, but also experts from near and far abroad. At the plenary session, which will take place on September 8 in TV "Korston-Kazan" the problems of particular importance and relevance to the modern development of museums to be specified. Among the key speakers - well-known experts in the international museum community: Vladimir Tolstoy (Moscow), Michael Henker (Munich), Andrew Erskine (London), Bjorn Stenvers (Amsterdam).
Particular attention will be paid to the prospects of development and the role of museums in the region's economy, key performance indicators and marketing techniques, new approaches to work in all areas of activity.
The Forum includes breakout sessions, round tables, seminars and presentations. The X-th working meeting of the Association of the Museum of Musical Culture Gorky and readings dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Literary-Memorial Museum after A.M. Gorky will be held. The business program covers acquaintance with the new exhibition of the museum of Kazan, the Bulgarian State Historical-Architectural Reserve Museum and the Museum of "The Island of Sviyazhsk" activity of the Republican Fund "Revival".
The cultural program will route through the museums to present historical and cultural traditions of the people of the republic, the legacy of the famous natives - G. Tukai, G. Derzhavin, M.Gorky and F.Chaliapin, the role of museums in the formation of a positive image and brand of Tatarstan.
We are confident that the theme of the forum will be interesting for museum professionals with a variety of experience, and a wide range of participants will allow to elaborate a common position on the most acute problems faced today not only by the museum community, but also the society as a whole, once again show the importance of museums in conditions of crisis and globalization, their role in reducing ethnic tensions and prevention of extremism and terrorism, education of tolerance in relations between representatives of different peoples and cultures, to identify prospects for progressing museums in coming decades.
