Derzhavin’s poetry festival to award laureates

July 14, 2015, on  the 272  anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet and statesman Gavriil  Romanovich Derzhavin, an  All-Russia festival of poetry is to be held  in Kazan and Laishevo. This year Derzhavin’s poetry festival   is dedicated to the Year of Literature, and special attention of  the poetry festival will be devoted to the promotion of reading.

Derzhavin’s  Russia festival  begins  on  July 14,  at 11:00am,  in Kazan,  at the monument to  G.R. Derzhavin  in  a Lyadsky  garden  by a  flower-laying ceremony, which is to   be attended by  heads of Tatarstan, the members of the Writers' Union of Tatarstan,  teachers, the cultural community of the republic. Before the guests of the festival  poets  Lilia  Gazizova, Akhat Mushinskii,  Nicholai Alyoshkov, Olga Levadnaya, Renat Kharis, Alexander Kashin, Natan Solodukho,  Nicholai Shamsutdinov, Boris Weiner, Naila Akhunova and others.

Further,  the   events of  Derzhavin’s poetry festival move  to Laishevski  region where the family estate  of Derzhavins – Sokurs was located.   Guests can take a tour of the festival  "at  Derzhavin’s  sites",  and  a dramatized quest through the museum of the great poet "On the cradle of my initial days!". Guests can also visit the exhibition "The river of time - life of G.R.Derzhavin" and Museum of Military Glory of  Laishevo town.

Then, at 16.00,  on  the central square of  Laishevo,  a poetry festival will be held, dedicated to the birthday of G.R. Derzhavin. During the festival,  the All-Russia G.R.Derzhavin Prize  will be presented, awarded annually to Tatarstan poets and writers whose works are making a worthy contribution to contemporary literature. During the festival  children - winners of the art contest "The old man Derzhavin noticed us ..."  are to be awarded. The soloists of the   G.Tukai  Tatar State Philharmonic,   actors of Kazan Youth Theater, ensembles "Karavon" and "Russian soul"  take part in a celebration.

National Festival  after G.R. Derzhavin  is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Writers' Union of the Republic of Tatarstan, Laishevsky RT municipal region.
