Under Menzelinsk a festival of Mari culture "Semyk" to be held

June 13,  in a village of Kaltakovo, the  Menzelinsky municipal district of Tatarstan,  a Republican festival of Mari culture "Semyk"   is to be held.

"Semyk" - a Mari ancient festival, held in early summer. Its main idea is the commemoration of deceased relatives and request for their blessings,  for success in economic affairs and at  home. Modern "Semyk" - a massive national holiday  the  Maris held in a format of the festival. Its  obligatory  elements are ethnic components: the national costume party, folk songs and dances, national instrumental music (including  "kyusle" and bagpipes "shyuvyr"), games, traditional cuisine.

The program of the festival Tatarstan "Semyk" -2015 - meeting of delegations and visitors at  the rural House culture of Kaltakovo  village,   parade of delegations, a concert of folk groups of the Republic of Tatarstan and Mari El, national games and sports. As part of the festival,  the    Republican contest "Mari beauty of the Year"   takes place.   As  participants of the festival  are expected  about 300 artists of 16 Mari folk and vocal groups from Agryz, Arsk, Aktanysh, Yelabuga, Kukmor, Mamadysh, Menzelinsk, Mendeleev, Muslyumovsk  regions,    the cities  of Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Yelabuga, Yoshkar-Ola. It is likely  that the celebrations will visit several thousand spectators.
