Nureyev Festival 2015 to be opened by a premiere of the ballet "Don Quixote"

May 15 and 16,  the  XXVIII International Festival of Classical Ballet  named after  Rudolf Nureyev  to be  premiered   by  L. Minkus "Don Quixote",  choreographed by Marius Petipa and A. Gorsky,  as amended by Vladimir Yakovlev.

Until recently, the theater  staged  a classic play "Don Quixote", delivered in 1994.  A new edition of  masterpiece  by Minkus-Petipa-Gorsky, not having come  down from the   world scene  for almost half a century, will be made  by  the artistic director of Ballet Theater Vladimir Yakovlev. Choreography of classical pas de deux and variations, of course, remain the same, but some mise en scenes change, new specific characters appear.

The changes will affect the performance and decoration. A key role in a new  performance will play   video decorations,   transforming  during  in a matter of moments.

Production designer of upcoming premiere - Victor Gerasimenko (Moscow), a computer graphic artist - Daniel Gerasimenko (Moscow), costume designer - Victoria Kharkhalup (Moscow).

The premiere of the ballet "Don Quixote" will be held on  May 15 and 16. The main roles  to  be performed  by: Kitri - Kristina Andreeva (M. Jalil TASTO&B ),  May 15, Olesya Novikova (Mariinsky Theatre) on May 16,  Basil - Kimin Kim (Mariinsky Theatre), Don Quixote - Gleb Korablev  (M. Jalil  TASTO&B ) Sancho Panza - Fayaz Valiakhmetov (M. Jalil  TASTOiB ) May 15, Ilya Belov (M.Jalil TASTO&B ) May 16, the Queen of the Dryads - Ekaterina Chebykina (Mariinsky Theatre).
