Today, the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan jointly with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republican Agency for Press and Mass Communications has announced the results of the Republican contest "Book of the Year 2013".
Among the objectives of the competition - the study of readers' interests and the nature of the demand for works of Tatar writers, identifying the most widely read books for further popularization. The founder of the competition - the chairman of the board of trustees of the National Library of Tatarstan, writer Razil Valeev noted the importance of the competition. "When we first started, we were told that it is necessary to nobody, but Tatarstan librarians, and we still did it. We, Tatars, since ancient times had their own books. Last year, in Tatarstan more than 400 titles were published. Book - this is the sacred thing that kept us ", - he said.
The contest "Book of the Year 2013" presented 219 books. Among them, 47 - prose in the Tatar language, 29 - collections of poetry in the Tatar language, 46 - children's books, 49 - art books in Russian, 22 - journalism and popular scientific literature in the Tatar language, 26 - journalism and popular science literature in Russian. Most read books were determined by 1541 municipal libraries of Tatarstan.
