For the first time a CD issued with gusli tunes by Tatars

18 February 2015, Wednesday

Republican Centre of Traditional Culture issued an edition "Tatar gusli sound" (Issue 1) consisting of two CDs: CD and DVD. They contain field recordings made  by  famous ethnomusicologist Elmira Kayumova in 2013 in Baltasinsky region  of Tatarstan. The expedition was organized by the Republican center of traditional culture. Project Manager – Fanzila  Zavgarova.

Now you can not only listen to authentic folk  gusli tunes  by  Tatars, but also to get acquainted with the technique of the playing  and structure of  the instrument. It has   12-page illustrated booklet photographs attached, which contains information about artists, their repertoire, and how to configure  playing  and others.

A special feature is the fact that the audio collection offers three new series: general - "Musical Heritage of the Tatar people," sub - "Field recordings  by  folklorist E.R.Kayumova", "Tatar gusli sound".

As noted E.Kayumova, "despite the fact that the videos were made on amateur camera, their value is undeniable."

The purpose of the audiovisual publications - not only to preserve the unique disappearing art. The materials presented are of great scientific and practical importance. They can be used when writing studies used in training courses on musical folklore, serve as teaching aid for performers, etc.

We hope that the instrumental soloists and folk groups include gusli tunes in their  repertoire. Especially because at the festivals "Iske  Kazan tugyaryak ueny" and "Tugyaryak  uyen" has a special nomination "For the revival of the playing   gusli."
