Albert Marquet (1875, Bordeaux - 1947, Paris) - artist, distinguished himself as a painter, draftsman, illustrator, master of watercolor, a friend of Matisse, Rouault J., A. Derain, Dufy and O. R. Friese. Some time was close to Fauvists, participated in joint exhibitions of this group at the Salon d'Automne of 1905 and the Salon in 1906. In 1907 he refused the conditional expression of Fauvism, developed his own pictorial system. In his urban landscapes detachment and contemplation are connected with a deep experience of nature. This manifested itself in numerous kinds of Paris, having brought fame to the artist.
The painting "Paris in Winter. Quay Bourbon" was created in winter 1907. The French capital becomes the protagonist of his paintings. One after another, the artist writes views of Paris, where a special aristocratic of artistic reticence is expressed.
