The National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan holds Local Wednesday titled" I ask to think of me ..." dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the entering L.N. Tolstoy the Imperial University of Kazan

Every year on November 20, public of  Russia celebrates the Day of the public memory of Leo Tolstoy. On this day, at 13.00,   the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan  holds  Local  Wednesday  titled "I ask to think of me ..." dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the entering   L.N. Tolstoy  the Imperial University of Kazan.

October 3, 1844,  Leo Tolstoy was enrolled student at the Oriental  Division of Philosophy Faculty of the University of Kazan, the end of which opens up the possibility of a diplomatic career.

With a passion  Leo  Tolstoi   plunged into  adult social life. Highborn young man, Count Tolstoy   was a welcome guest everywhere. His entourage included youth from respected noble families - Depreysovs, Molostvovs, Mertvagos, Musins-Pushkins and others.

A secular life  interfered  the studies - he was not allowed for transfer  exams  to the second year. In August, 1845, L. Tolstoy was transferred to the Faculty of Law, began to seriously pursue, attend lectures. Work on the task given  by  teacher theory of law D.I. Meyer  on  comparing  "Nakaz (mandate) "   by Ekaterina   II  and the "Spirit of the Laws"    by Montesquieu  fascinated  the young man and led   him  to think deeply about the structure of public life in Russia and his own.

Kazan years were a period of growing and spiritual formation of Leo Tolstoy, the search of  paths in life and the emergence of ideas of moral perfection. In his works "Boyhood" and "Youth"  at  all significant discrepancies   with the actual events are permeated   by  personal memories and experiences associated with life in Kazan. The images of the leading characters are recognizable  features of Tolstoi  himself, his brother, his closest friends and acquaintances; the  topics are present  about  university admission, youthful friendship, secular ideal man "comme il  faut», reading circle, and the "rules of life".

On regional Wednesday ,     the  employees of Kazan University of Museum of History will present a lecture-presentation on "Leo Tolstoy  and the University"   discuss the future of the L.N. Tolstoi museum in Kazan.

Meeting participants will be students of grammar school №39, Academic Lyceum n.a.  N.I. Lobachevsky, admirers of Tolstoi, historians.
