November 1, 2014, on the eve of the Day of National Unity in viyazhsk a festival of choral music "Holy Songs" is to be held. The event will be held within the program "Eventful tourism" aimed at the development and promotion of tourism brand of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Svijazhsk - a remarkable monument of Russian antiquity, where the creation of Orthodox architects of XVI-XX centuries is the object of attraction for hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to Tatarstan. The Concert Festival "Holy Songs" will be held in one of the main temples of island-town - Cathedral of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of Who Sorrow”, notable for its excellent acoustics. Holding concerts under its arches has become a tradition. Thus, the performances of choirs here within three past festivals "Music of Faith" aroused great interest and a lively response from the audience with the wishes from many for developing unusual format. That is why the organizers of the Festival of Choral Music "Holy Songs" is not afraid of repetition of ideas, seeking to expand its borders. The basis of the program of the festival will also be the spiritual masterpieces of Orthodox chants. However, the creators of the project seek to go beyond a narrow interpretation of the genre as a religious ritual, and to find more general, spiritual, philosophical level of understanding as part of the diverse cultural heritage of our unique region. No wonder, the very day of the festival - On the eve of National Unity - imply as a key idea of community and tolerance.
The participants of the festival "Holy Songs" will be well- known choirs of the republic, having become famous by mastership of performing sacred music. These are RT State Chamber Choir under the direction Milyausha Tamindarova, Fraternal choir of the Sviyazhsky Holy Dormition Monastery by Pavel Elisov, the ensemble of sacred music from the city of Laish under the direction of Elena Kalitkina, Male choir of the Kazan Mother of God Monastery under the direction of Dennis Rogov. Guest of the festival will be a team of Academic Choir of Udmurtia (Izhevsk) under direction of Andrei Eliseev. The concert program includes chanting the Byzantine tradition, the ancient religious poems, chants of Valaam Monastery, as well as works by Chesnokov, Bortnyansky Smolensky Dinyov, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and others. The concert starts - at 13.00. Entry - free.
Besides to the main concert by choir of Orthodox Music in the Museum of History of Sviyazhsk, the String Quartet State of the Republic of Tatarstan with a program of works by Russian composers performs. Beginning - at 12.00am.
