In G. Kamal TSA Theatre "Main season premiere" - a drama "My Name is Red", based on the novel by Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk

November 7, 19.00, G. Kamal Tatar State Academic Theatre presents "The main season premiere" - a drama "My Name is Red," based on the novel by Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk. Premiere is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of director Marcel Salimzhanov. Specifically, for the production of the play in Kazan, director Maxim Kalsin has been invited. Leading actors of the troupe are engaged: Ildus Gabdrakhmanov, Radik Bariev, Azgar Shakirov, Alsu Gainullina, Aidar Hafiz, Nafisa Khairullina and many others.

"My Name is Red" - a historical mystery, which takes place in the Ottoman Empire of the XVI century. As in a puzzle, by short monologues actors gradually form a picture in which a young man named Kara must find out the identity of the killer of two people ... The play resembles a multicolored carpet, woven from a variety of themes and storylines. Everything is here: love letters and secret notes, miniatures in thick tomes and padishah’s library, craft and creativity. And yet: the mass of parables and parenthesis.

The play is filled with the finest details of the life of the Ottoman Empire, but to a greater extent, this staging about the work, about the Turkish tradition of painting and art in general, about how Turkish life and art have been influenced by European traditions, and the people who were trying to promote these changes or protect by all the ways our cultural world.

Directed by Maxim Kalsin working on the production in tandem with the famous theater artist Alexei Votyakov, a holder of All-Russian Theatre Award "Golden Mask". Despite the detailed historicism of the performance, artistic design differs by the use of the most modern technology: a huge screen on which pictures are projected in 3d format, mobile structures, easily converted into domestic chambers, a coffee shop, a bustling oriental bazaar...

The premiere of "My Name is Red" is to be  held on November 7, 19.00, on the big stage of the G. Kamal Tatar State Academic Theatre.

Orhan Pamuk - a Turkish writer, Orhan Pamuk  is the author of 7 novels published on more than 40 languages, he was awarded the International Literary Prize Impac, the Peace Prize, the award "Prix Medicis Etranger" and other high awards, considered a classic of modern literature. The writer won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006. According to the report of the Nobel Committee, Pamuk received the award as a man who "in the search for the melancholic soul of his native city has revealed new characters and changing collision of cultures."


Maxim Kalsin - a graduate of the Faculty of History, Moscow State University, the workshop of Karen Shakhnazarov, VGIK, and workshop of  eminent theater director Kama Ginkas at the Moscow Art Theatre School named after A.P. Chekhov. Since 2011 - chief director of the Magnitogorsk Drama named after A. Pushkin.
