Competition Program of the X Kazan Film Festival: nomination "Feature Film"

The competition dozen of  the  main  nomination of the  Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema "Feature film" includes films from 9 countries.  By one from Croatia ("Path of  Halima"), Azerbaijan ("Letters from the Past"), Turkey ("Crossroads"), Italy ("Alien Bodies"), Iran ("Last Winter") and Belarus ("Babu"). One competition film is a collaborative effort of the shooting  group from Brazil and Lebanon ("The Last Stop"). Three works  by  Russian cinematographers -  movie "She" by L.Sadilova "Trial" by A. Kott and "Kurban- roman" by S. Yuzeev will compete with foreign films.

Several films of the competition program ("Die vindicated. Letters from the Past" by Oktai Mir Kasim, "The last stop" by Marcio Curi, "Path of Halima" by Arsen Anton Ostoyich, "Crossroads" by Faysal Soysal and "Kurban- roman: the story of a victim of" by Salavat Yuzeev) have already been presented to the representatives of the media and cultural community of Kazan in a series of special shows, prior to the festival.

The film "Trial" by Alexander Kott (Russia) made a splash at the film festival in Sochi. Presenting the award to the director, chairman of the jury of "Kinotavr" Andrei Zvyagintsev admitted that the film shook him to the core, that seeing it, he believed that cinema in Russia is live The film is set in Semipalatinsk, where in 1949 a nuclear bomb was tested. Life of the father and his teenage daughter, who is beloved by a local guy, flows measured, until one day it does not interfere in the blast. The film for 90 minutes  not a single word is pronounced: exclusively the language of cinema is used.

Problem of behavior in difficult situations is raised by the film of Italian director Mirko Locatelli "Alien bodies." The main characters - a father, who is fighting for the life of his young son, and the boy, a refugee, fleeing from the bloody revolts of the Arab Spring.

The world of today’s Russia we see through the eyes of a girl Maya from Tajikistan, the heroine of the tape, "She" by Larissa Sadilova (Russia). Maya came to Moscow to her lover, who himself lives on sufferance of the bird, and was abandoned

The disease causes meeting of two lonely and frightened souls. Old people - the only ones left in the abandoned village, which slowly goes under water, became heroes of the movie "Last winter", by Iranian Salem Salavat.

Fully corresponds to the motto of the festival "Through the dialogue of cultures - the culture of dialogue" the film "Babu" by Alexander Levenchuk (Belarus). His character - an Azeri girl - had been stolen from her father  businessman, but the prisoner escaped. In the forests of Belarus she  accidentally finds an elderly woman. The woman and the girl did not understand each other, but the desire to find a "common language" imotes them.
