Preparations for the play "Contrabass" began in Kazan

Preparations for the premiere of the play by    Chekhov Moscow Art Theater "Contrabass" with Konstantin Khabensky  in a title role   began in Kazan. The performance will take place on the stage of the  G. Kamal  Tatar State Academic Theater  June 17, 2014.  The scenery and props  productions, including the main  "hero" of the drama – 2 meters  double  bass,  is coming to Kazan.

The  play  has been  put    by young director Gleb Cherepanov, premiered on stage of  Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre in March 2014,  and was the first experience in the genre  of  Khabenskogo man show.

The protagonist of the story, 35-year-old employee of the state orchestra,  going   hard  through a midlife crisis, lack of love and the meaning of life. Scenography of the   performance (artist Nikolai Simonov) emphasizes solitude, closeness, "stuffiness" of the world in which he lives. Space scene has been  upholstered    by fifty mattresses,  out  of furniture - a wardrobe, desk, refrigerator, gramophone, garbage disposal ... Almost two-hour monologue by  K. Khabesnky  listens in one breath and plunges into the abyss of the human subconscious, critics recognize.

It should be noted that breaking the rules of  one-man show in "Contrabass"  on the scene appears  another character - the beloved  of the  protagonist, singer Sarah, who  maintains  with   Contrabassist an imaginary conversation. Sarah's role in setting takes vocalist Olga Voronina. On the play at the same time there are 22 specialists - lighting, sound, make-up artists, the technical team.

Drama about   reflective bandsman was   seen  in Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Novgorod and Yekaterinburg,  on stage - Kazan.  The performance in the   RT capital will be supported by the mayor's office of Kazan in the Year of Culture in Russia.
