More than 100 musicians will be participants of the III International Jewish Festival in Kazan

Participants of the III International Festival of Jewish music in Kazan will be more than 100 artists from all over Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Israel. Festival will be held from 13 to 15 June,  2014,  at several venues in  Kazan and Sviyazhsk. In the capital,  the Jewish music of different styles will sound  on str.Peterburgskaya ( opening concert ), at  the  S.Saidash  State Concert Hal, RT  Park Museum of Fine Arts,  clubs " Old Piano" and "Crossroads of Jazz ",  Concert hall of Kazan Federal University "Unix " (closing).

One of the most anticipated guests of the festival will be a jazz musician, pianist , composer and jazz promoter Leonid Ptashka. A renowned Israeli musician  belongs to the list of the 100 best jazz musicians   of XX century,   by version of   the American Biographical Institute , will present the program in Kazan called  " Israeli mix ", including  author’s processing of traditional Jewish melodies, masterpieces by George Gershwin, hits of  "The Beatles" and his  own compositions. The concert will be accompanied by the orchestra "New Music " led by Anna Gulishambarova .

First time  in the festival a  well- known Russian team, winner of numerous competitions and festivals, Klezmer Ensemble "Aliya" (Samara)   will  take part . The group was founded  in 1989, for 25 years it  has  recorded  several CD- ROMs, toured in Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan ... It is interesting that  the name of the ensemble that resembles a popular  Tatar girl's name in translation from  Hebrew  is  "ascent" , " climbing ", and the term aliyah - the repatriation of Jews to Israel.

The festival will represent   the  groups playing a variety of music, from traditional klezmer to soul, rhythm and blues, jazz-rock and world music, - Orchestra «Klezmasters» ( Moscow) , the ensemble "Akademik Band" ( Ulyanovsk), the group «Pushkin! Klezmer Band »( Ukraine , Moldova) and others.

As  hosts of  the festiva, the klezmer   ensemble " Simkha ", which  has  celebrated in 2014 its 25th anniversary; orchestra «Tatarica», Kazan garrison brass band, a popular Tatar singer Salavat and others   will perform.

One of the discoveries of the festival may become a quickly gaining  popularity  the  music group «Kozmo» from Israel. The band members perform alternative music in English and Hebrew, collective style - a mixture of rock, folk and reggae, with a strong Middle Eastern flavor.

Unusual style stands out  is perfumed  by a  debutant from Kazan - " gastronomic orchestra of  philosophical post -folk " "Leshch  v sebe."   An official page of the team reports that the group's repertoire is  not only klezmer, but Tatar, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and " socialist- Jewish " folklore , as well as chanson, Cossack songs, country and much more.
