Internationally renowned pianist Denis Matsuev became Ambassador of UNESCO

The ceremony took place on April 2,  in Paris,  at UNESCO Headquarters.  Matsuev   has been  awarded  a title of    the  UNESCO  Ambassador for his great personal contribution to the development of multilateral cooperation,  humanitarian, social and charitable activities, primarily in education and international cultural cooperation.

" Music - is an international language that requires no translation. Musicians go on stage, trying to make this world a better place ", - noted  the pianist.

In the early evening,   UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova handed  letter of credence   to Denis Matsuev after which  he  symbolically lit the fire in the bowl - it is a tradition of the Fund "New Names" , whose president today is   Denis  Matsuev. Young Fellows Fund opened a concert , and then went on stage musicians of Tatarstan State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of their artistic director Alexander Sladkovsky,  who came to Paris at the invitation of Denis Matsuev.

The concert program included works by Russian composers : Overture -Fantasy " Romeo and Juliet" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky , the evening continued newly Ambassador of UNESCO, who  has performed  as a solo pianist. Accompanied by an orchestra of Tatarstan,  Denis Matsuev performed Rachmaninoff 's Second Piano Concerto, which rightly belongs today to the items  of one of the most performed classical works in the world.  Hall standing  welcomed  musicians and asked for an encore performance. First gift to the public was  presented   by D. Matsuev, performing several works , and then Tatarstan Orchestra performed its  visit  card - boisterous and bright " Stan Tamerlane " by Alexander Tchaikovsky.

"We are happy here today. Denis Matsuev as nobody else is worthy of honor to wear the title of Goodwill Ambassador . He - an outstanding musician, who does so much for the development of Russian culture, including our orchestra. Thanks to him , his creative support we toured half the country and now can present  Tatarstan  abroad " , - shared his impressions of today's concert  artistic director and chief conductor of the  RT SSO  Alexander Sladkovsky.

The  hall of UNESCO  also was  attended   by  State Advisor Mintimer Shaimiev, who led a delegation of Tatarstan.

Immediately after returning from Paris,  Orchestra  begins preparations for the International Festival " Rakhlinskie seasons" , it is to  be held in Kazan from April 13 to 26 , - the press -service of the RT SSO   informs.
