From February 2 to 18, 2014, the stage of the M. Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre will host XXXII International Opera Festival after I.Shaliapin. Forum- 2014 is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Kazan Opera. The festival program will amount to 10 performances and two gala concerts with participation of guest performers from 10 countries. Tickets go on sale December 20.
The festival opens by a premiere - Rossini opera «The Barber of Seville» (February 2, 3), directed by Yuri Alexandrov, conductor Marco Boemi, scene-designer Victor Gerasimenko.
Program continues with last season premiere – «Aida» by J.Verdi (February 7), with Indra Thomas ( USA) in a title role.
An unordinary event promises to be the opera «Rigoletto» (February 9) with a wonderful singer and actor Boris Statsenko in a title role and «Tatar nightingale» Albina Shagimuratova as Gilda.
February 11, on the Festival’s playbill - the opera «Eugene Onegin». Anna Samoile (German State Opera) performs for the first time in Kazan as Tatiana.
February 13, the birthday of I.F. Shaliapin, Kazan traditionally gives «Boris Godunov» by M. Mussorgsky. In the role of the rebellious king - an outstanding bass Vladimir Matorin (Bolshoi Theatre of Russia).
Maximum cost of tickets for premiere performances will be 2,000 rubles, the rest of - 1500 rubles, minimum - 250 rubles. Tickets for gala concert will cost from 300 to 3000 rubles.
From December 20, 2013, the tickets are sold at the box office and from authorized distributors. A detailed program is available on the official website of the theater www.kazan-opera.ru.
