December 15, Adelaide, Tatar traditional holiday Sabantui took place in Australia.

On the fete organized by the Tatar-Bashkir Association of Australia  gathered more than 300 people. Guests on holiday were blessed by Imam of Adelaide Tatar Mahalla  Bulat Hazrat  Ishmukhammetov. The representative of the Government of South Australia Jack Sellin was among the special guests.

During the festival, there was an opportunity to compete in traditional events: in particular, sack races, running with a yoke and egg, tug of war - familiar to every Tatar. But races on toy horses - unusual and interesting, especially, because the desire to win and passion - real. Wrestling was also specific. Wrestlers wore special costumes. In these awkward costumes they were more like sumo wrestlers than fine Tatar batyrs.

Well-known Tatar singer Hamdoon Timergalieva and young performer Marcel Vagizov came to the Australian Sabantui from Kazan. Cultural holiday program was graced by performance of Tatar lady - singer living in Australia Zulfiya Kamalova, the official website of the World Congress of Tatars   reports.
