The historic center Tchistopol is a place of interest

November 12, 2013, RT Cabinet  signed an edict № 869 «On placing  the sightseeing  «Historic Centre of  Tchistopol to objects of cultural heritage of regional (national ) value», and its inclusion in the state register of cultural heritage (monuments of history and culture ) of the Russian Federation».

 By resolution of the Republic of  Tatarstan  boundaries of the territory of a cultural heritage of regional (republican ) value of  «Place of interest» Historical Centre of Tchistopol,  mode and use of the area are approved.

Among Russian towns, Tchistopol is a unique historical settlement of Russian federal value with preserved historical center. More than 140 objects of cultural heritage of architectural and historical importance are located in the territory of the historic center.  A significant number of buildings have memorial sense - In 1941-43,  Tchistopol housed the office of the Union of Soviet Writers, more than 200 writers, artists and members of their families  were evacuated to Tchistopol. This period of writers ’s creativity has a great meaning  for  development of  world literature.

In Tchistopol,  they have  created dozens of well-known literary works. For good reason, Tchistopol was  called «Literary Athens».
