September 17,   2013,  at 3.00 pm,   in the Museum of Islamic culture of the Kazan Kremlin an  exhibition "Written Quran in the spiritual life of the Tatar people ." is due to open.  The exhibition introduces contemporary  handwritten copies  of the Quran, circulated among   Tatar intellectuals  in the XVII- XIX centuries .

The exhibition opens in the framework of the project "The Quran and the literary culture of the Tatar people" and is a continuation of cultural and educational events in 2012 , announced in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Year of the Quran.

With the adoption of Islam by  the Volga Bulgars in 922,  before the change of the Arabic script of the Tatar language ( 1927 ) , despite a wide spread of printing in the XIX century  a tradition of making hand-written copies of Quran has not been  interrupted by the Tatars .

The exhibition presents the history  and functioning of the hand-written Qurans,  shows the features and design of the text books that make these manuscripts recognizable as   created  by the Tatars. Presented  manuscripts   demonstrate the continuity of the Tatar and all-Islamic  traditions in the creating  the Quran manuscripts.

The exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Culture organized workshops on Arabic calligraphy together with the students of Russian Islam University .

September 18th, 2013,  at 10:00 am in Manege  building of  the  Museum -Reserve "Kazan Kremlin" , a round table on the theme: "The Quran - a treasure of spiritual heritage of Muslims”,   brings  together prominent scholars and religious leaders of the Republic  Tatarstan .
