The competition program of IX of the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival consists of eleven feature films. Among them, two Russian - "Ivan, the son of Amir" by M.Panfilov and "Othonchik. First Love" directed by Buryat B. Dyshenov, three movies produced in the countries of the former Soviet Union -" Akkyz "(Kazakhstan),"Stepniak” (Azerbaijan) and "Parizod"(Uzbekistan). European cinema at the festival will present the French-Senegalese co-production "High as the baobab" and Serbian-German joint project "Circles". Traditional favorites, Turkey, Iran and Egypt are presented by the films "Ken" ("Jan. Soul"), "Letters in the rain" and "A New Day. A New Hope", respectively. The full- length fiction film of U. S. production “Right to love. " entered the competition program as well.
"The competition program of the forum consists of some very original films - says art director of IX KIMFF Albina Nafigova. - This, for example, "Circles" by Serbian director Srdjan Golubovicha: a picture of how those involved in sectarian civil war, people are finding ways to reconcile, to forgive and understand each other. There is a very interesting ethnic cinematographic work - "High as baobab." The film introduces a unique way of life and the problems of Senegalese Muslims, impresses by an unusual actor playing an oxymoron of modernity and traditions: the apparent tyranny of tradition in the lives of the characters a strong presence of civilization is felt.
There are three pictures of our neighbors, which were once a part of the great cinematic country - the USSR. Among them, I mark Uzbek film "Parizod. Heaven is my abode "- an absolute parable, tender and light, despite a sad ending. The picture shows the culture, customs and nature of the country. I would like to single out "Letters in the Rain" - aged Iranian movie about a woman shackled in the circumstances of the collision of human desires and moral principles, problems of relationships within the family. In general, our viewers in each film will find something close and meaningful for themselves. "
Russian cinema presents at the festival the two very dissimilar works. "Ivan, the son of Amir" - a drama by Maxim Panfilov with Karolina Gruszka and Dmitry Dyuzhev in lead roles. By plot, she is - from Sevastopol, he - from the Uzbek village, and he has two wives. She flees with her children from war and finds refuge in his house. She will be his third wife, and give birth to a son. She does not know that her husband, Lieutenant of Black Sea Fleet is alive ... The film shows how interethnic marriage and built in conflict, comes out alignment of people with the ability to negotiate, fits perfectly into the concept of intercultural dialogue at the Kazan Film Festival.
The film "Othonchik. First Love "- an optimistic young Buryat melodrama directed by Bair Dyshenov. Young Dulma and Evgenia experiencing the unknown feeling of first love. They are students. She – “othonchik” , that is the youngest and favorite child in a large family of the Buryats. He - Russian guy from Irkutsk, from an educated family. They will have to prove their love and face resistance from their parents. "Othonchik" - is an attempt to reflect local cultural dialogue, made with sincerity and humor - Albina Nafigova says. - It is clear that the filmmakers from Buryatia can not make an absolute competition by all indicators to a developed cinema. However, the mission of review of any film festival - to support Russian cinema, to make way for talented young people. And we are aware of that. "
One of the favorites of the festival is likely to become a Turkish drama "Ken". Young Aisha and Kemal love each other. Despite the many obstacles, they married and went to live in a big city. The only thing they do not have - a child. Aisha from the beginning is not happy with the idea of adoption, she can not expose even least maternal feelings to the child. When child turns one year, Kemal leaves his family ...
