Unique exhibition project «Tatar costume: history and modernity» opens in RT National museum

Within a Cultural program of   XXVII World Summer Universiade. Tatarstan  presents a unique inter-museum exhibition  «Tatar costume: history and modernity».  48 museums of Russia have sent their exhibits to it.

First time, within the framework of one exhibition  the rarest specimens of national  costume  of different ethnic-territorial groups from collections of 12 capital and regional museums of Russia – St. Petersburg, Astrakhan,  Samara, Saratov, Izhevsk, Ulyanovsk, Yoshkar- Ola, Saransk, Perm, Tyumen and other and also 36 museums of Tatarstan are presented

The  basis of exhibition made the collections of RT National museum had been forming for almost 120 years with participation of scientists of the Kazan university, RT academy of sciences, Kazan collectors. The display presents complete costume complexes  and systematic lines of decorations, head ware, foot ware.

The project, first time, has gathered in one place the exhibits   from collections of regional Tatrstan museumа, among them: Elabuga state  historic-architectural and artistic museum-reserve , Sabinsky centralized natural history, Galiya Kabitzky and others.

The uniqueness of exhibition is that the collections composing it are demonstrated in its entirety and diversity, familiarizing the visitors with development of Tatar national costume  in historic and regional aspects. Many of the exhibits were kept in museum stores and were practically unavailable for visitors.

A considerable  section of the exhibition make up specimen of modern Tatar costume  created  by masters of national centers , organizations and  Tatarstan funds: ООО «Theatre of fashion   «Ildan Lik», ООО Fund of national cultural center  «Turan», ООО Kazan combine  of out-workers», ZАО «Ebivol» and other.

Guests and residents of Tatarstan will see traditional clothes of Tatars of  XVIII-XX centuries in all diversity of variations and decorative specifics.
