IX Kazan cinema festival: film selection is conducted by cinema critics and experts of Islam

Acceptance of applications for participation in  IX Kazan international festival of Muslim cinema keeps going. At the moment, 200  requests have entered the organizing committee of the festival and selection commission began sorting out received  films.

The commission consists of professional cinema critics chaired by Sergei Lavrentiev –well-known Russian cinema critic with a big work experience at the international cinema festivals. All movies are checked also on conformity to ideological values of the forum: the films  are reviewed  by professional scholars of Islam  – ulems -  under conduct of first deputy mufti of Tatarstan, chairman of council of ulems  RT Religious Board of Muslims  Rustam Batrov.

The work is on over forming composition of international jury, who will estimate films entered in main contest program. It is already known  that the work of jury  will be  chaired by Soviet and Russian film director, script writer, producer, general director of cinema concern  «Mosfilm» Karen Shakhnazarov. Besides, negotiations are under way with prominent cinema makers from  Egypt, Turkey, Iran and India.
