From 6 to 11 June 2021, Kazan will host the XV International Theater Festival of Turkic Peoples "Nauruz". The festival program includes 22 theaters from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and the national republics of Russia.

“If  last festival“ Nauruz ”was dedicated to Bashkortostan, then this year“ Nauruz ”will be held under the auspices of the theatrical art of the Northern Turks. In total, 2 theaters from Khakassia, as well as theaters from Altai and Tuva, will take part in the festival, - says the artistic director of the festival Farid Bikchantaev. - The repertoire of the festival is traditionally diverse: there are world classics, ethnic parables, and modern drama. In total, the festival will bring together over 500 participants. "

“The holding of the festival this year is remarkable for the fact that it is taking place in the Year of Native Languages ​​and National Unity, announced in the Republic of Tatarstan by President Rustam Minnikhanov. The International Theater Festival of Turkic Peoples "Nauruz is an opportunity not only to communicate, compete, but also to turn to our roots, it is a search for common principles, values ​​that will be relevant for the entire theater community of Turkic peoples," said Yulia, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Adgamova.

The performances of XV "Nauruz" will be presented at 6 theatrical venues in Kazan: the Big and Small Halls of the Kamala Theater, the Big and Small Halls of the Ekiyat Puppet Theater, the Tinchurin Theater, and the Kariev Theater. Performances will also be performed outdoors on the Kaban Lake embankment. Tickets are available at box offices, on theater websites, as well as from ticket operators.

 

The founders of the Festival are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the national project "Culture", with the support of the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation and the Union of Theater Workers of the Republic of Tatarstan. The main goal of "Nauruz" is to strengthen inter-theatrical ties and mutual enrichment of the theatrical culture of the Turkic and other peoples of the Russian Federation and foreign countries. For the first time the Festival "Nauruz" was held in 1989 by the decision of the Union of Theater Workers of the USSR in Alma-Ata. After the collapse of the USSR, the annual festival was not held for 5 years. The revival of the Nauruz festival took place in 1998, thanks to the initiative of the Republic of Tatarstan.

 

From now on, the festival began to be held in the capital of the Republic - Kazan, once every four years and received the international status. Since 2009, the Festival has been held once every two years. Since 2010, the International Theater and Educational Forum "Nauruz" has been held under the auspices of the Festival. Within the framework of the forum, seminars and master classes on acting and directing, theater studies and management in the field of theatrical art are held.
