The Kazan Youth Theater will host the premiere of the inclusive play "Blue Bird"

20 February 2021, Saturday

On March 3, at 14:00, the inclusive creative laboratory of the Kazan Youth Theater "Creating a Theater" under the direction of director and teacher Daria Khurtina will present the play "Blue Bird" on the main stage of the theater. All 19 laboratory participants will be employed in it, 7 of them are children with disabilities. After the show, a round table will be held on the topic "Inclusive art in Tatarstan" with the participation of professionals in the field of inclusive art and culture.

The laboratory was opened on the basis of the theater in June 2017 thanks to a grant from JSC RITEK. The purpose of the laboratory is to create an environment of equal opportunities, respect and sincere friendship between "special" and healthy children. "The Blue Bird" will be the second performance of the group - the play "The Seagull Called Jonathan Livingston" based on the story-parable of the same name by Richard Bach was previously released.

“This performance is a logical continuation of the work of our laboratory. If, thanks to The Seagull Called Jonathan Livingston, the guys believed that their capabilities were not limited by anyone except themselves, then the position here is slightly different - deeper and more serious. We will work with resentment. People who are outside the social concept of the norm experience it because of social rejection. The very concept of "inclusion" is aimed at solving this very problem. This theme runs like a red thread throughout the entire performance. “All stones are the same, all are precious, but a person sees only a few of them,” says the director of the play and the author of the staging Daria Khurtina.

According to Daria Khurtina, it is in the "Blue Bird" that the idea is affirmed: no matter who you were born - Bread or Dog, your soul and your mission in this world are important.

“I am convinced that each person brings with him to this world a purpose and fulfills a universal function. A person is happy just when he feels needed, he feels in his place. It is then that we sincerely and unselfishly give love, care, attention. And isn't this happiness? While working on the play, I realized what prevents a person from feeling happy. This is fear. Tiltil and Mityl go through a dream, very terrible in places. But they go to meet their fear and find real happiness in the finale. So they often ask me: "Aren't you afraid to work with" special "children?" And I understand where this question comes from. When a person is faced with something atypical for him, he inevitably experiences fear, but at the first meeting, fear gives way to interest. The main thing is to take the first step. Fear and pity prevent people from communicating happily with each other, they are counterproductive. Working in inclusion has taught me to love people in all their diversity even more, ”says the director.

The performance also includes the artists of the Kazan Youth Theater: People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Nina Kalaganova, Honored Artists of the Republic of Tatarstan Alsu Gustova, Alexey Zilber, Dmitry Yazov. Production designer - Marina Rodionova, ballet master - Evgeny Skripachev.Musical arrangement of the performance - the ensemble "NeZami" under the direction of Dmitry Bikchentaev.
