Kazan will host XXX Republican Festival of Russian Choral Music named after A.V. Kotkov

The opening of the festival and the first part of the concert program will take place on February 13, 2021 at the Cultural Center. A.S. Pushkin, beginning at 14.00.

The second part of the concert program and the ceremonial closing of the festival will take place in the concert hall of the Palace of Culture. S. Said-Galieva, February 14, 2021 at 14.00 hours.

Before the beginning   of the concert program for the participants and spectators of the festival at  the Cultural Center named after A.S. Pushkin and in the Palace of Culture. S. Said-Galiyeva will open an exhibition-fair of masters of decorative and applied arts, master classes in various directions will be organized.

The Republican Festival of Russian Choral Music named after Alexander Vasilyevich Kotkov is held in memory of the talented musician, enthusiast of folk choral creativity, the founder of the folk choir "Russian Song" of the S. Said-Galiev Palace of Culture - one of the leading choral groups of Tatarstan (in 2018 the choir turned 55 years). The choir's song origins originated in workers' shops and departments of industrial enterprises in Derbyshky.

 First held in February 1991 as a memorial evening and a small concert for friends, it has become an annual event and gathers more and more participants. During this time, it turned into a real festival of folk songs. Over the 30 years of the festival, many well-known choral groups and ensembles of Russian folk songs from all over the republic (including children's, youth and student groups) have taken part in it.

Since 2015, the A.V. Kotkov  has  presented with concert programs on the stage venues of the Palace of Culture. Said-Galiev, House of Friendship of the Peoples of Tatarstan, Cultural and Leisure Complex named after IN AND. Lenin, Cultural Center after  A.S. Pushkin.

In 2016, on the initiative of the Russian National Cultural Association of the Republic of Tatarstan, a gift edition was released in the form of a set of audio and video discs for the 25th anniversary of the Festival. The audio disc includes the best songs performed by creative groups that are permanent participants of the Festival, and the content of the video disc consists of fragments from the Festival's concert programs of different years.

Over the past 3 years, creative collectives from all municipal districts of Tatarstan and other regions of Russia have taken part in the festival.

Artistic Director of the Festival - Svetlana Izmailova, member of the Council for Culture and Arts under  President of the Republic of Tatarstan, head of the Russian Song Folk Choir in Kazan and the Kuderushki Folk Slavic Song Ensemble of the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Tatarstan, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Assembly of the Peoples of Tatarstan, the Russian National Cultural Association of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Executive Committee of the city of Kazan.
