The jury of the Kazan project "Cinema in 7 Days" will be headed by an Oscar nominee

From 14 to 21 December, Kazan is hosting the Second International Project "Cinema in 7 Days". Within the framework of this unique project, 10 teams, selected by competition from all over the world, shoot short films in just one week, and the three best films will be awarded cash prizes. In the future, the films will be combined into an almanac, which will be released in Russian and foreign film distribution, as well as presented at film festivals.

The founder of the project is the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, and in 2020 it takes place on the basis of the Kazan State Institute of Culture. In connection with  epidemiological situation in the world in 2020, the project "Cinema in 7 Days" is being held in a unique format: some films are shot in foreign countries, and some in Kazan, using remote technology using the so-called Second Unit - autonomous Tatarstan  collectives working on the assignment of foreign directors using videoconferences.

This year's jury will be chaired by  a legendary animation director Konstantin Bronzit, two-time Oscar nominee, member of the American Film Academy and laureate of the President of the Russian Federation. The jury will also include a cinematographer from Ireland, founder of the Cork International Film Festival Mick Hannigan. The Republic of Tatarstan will be represented in the jury by the famous film director and playwright Salavat Yuzeev.

In 2020, the following teams are taking part in the competition:

 

1. The film "Papa Test", directors Valery and Dana Baklanov, Russia, St. Petersburg

 

2. Film "Instagram Girl", director The Thien, Vietnam

 

3. Film "Tea Leaves" directed by Claire Varley, New Zealand

 

4. Film "Spark", directed by Adrian Replansky, France

 

5. Film "Marianna", director Ruxandra Cernat, Romania

 

6. The film "Restless", directed by Li Xie, China.

 

7. Film "Zero", director Oksana Sinchugova, Russia, Tatarstan

 

8. Film "I do not smell the earth in my head", director Alkistis Kafetzi, Germany

 

9. Film "Wake up at the sunset time", director Alexander Ivanov, St. Petersburg

 

10. Film "Sun and Moon", directed by Camila Silva, Nicaragua

General producer of the project has traditionally been  head of the Kinoteatr fund,  director of the Angleterre cinema and  former general director of the State Unitary Enterprise Kinostudiya im. Gorky ”Stanislav Ershov. The project manager in 2020 was the Kazan film director and producer, president of the Region-Kino ANO, associate professor of the Kazan State Institute of Culture Aleksey Barykin. International relations and coordination of artistic tasks were taken over by Tom Palmen (Riga, Latvia), film producer and curator of international film festivals.

The results of the competition will be announced on December 21. The team that wins the first place will receive a cash prize of 500 thousand rubles, the second - 300 thousand rubles, the third - 200 thousand.
