The "Golden Mask in Kazan" festival starts today in the capital of Tatarstan. Within its framework, from September 23 to October 6, Kazan will host a tour of the Theater "Workshop PN Fomenko" and the Moscow Drama Theater. A.S. Pushkin.
This project became possible thanks to the support of the President of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan.
The details of the festival "Golden Mask in Kazan" were told today by its organizers and participants at a press conference held at the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan.

As the general director of the national theater award and the Golden Mask festival Maria Revyakina noted, the poster of the Golden Mask in Kazan festival has been formed for a long time, and the coronavirus pandemic has made its own adjustments. “As a result of the entire poster, we brought you two wonderful performances of a large form, laureates of the Golden Mask Prize of different years,” she said. “These are performances with great directors and actors. I think that seeing these performances is not only the greatest pleasure, but also an incredible memory that remains when you remember every performance in detail ”.
Within the framework of the festival on September 23 and 24 on the stage of the Kazan Academic Russian Bolshoi Drama Theater named after IN AND. Kachalov will present the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" directed by Ivan Popovski. It will be presented by the Theater “Workshop P.N. Fomenko ", Moscow.
Such artists as Karen Badalov, Galina Tyunina, Oleg Niryan, Ambartsum Kabanyan, Vera Strokova, Serafima Ogareva, Alexander Michkov, Yuri Butorin, Nikita Tyunin, Andrey Kazakov, Rustem Yuskaev, Kirill Pirogov, Stepan Pyankov will perform on the Kazan stage.
On October 5 and 6, the Golden Mask will be presented at the Tatar Theater named after G. Kamala play "The Kind Man from Sezuan" directed by Yuri Butusov. This is the work of the Moscow Theater named after A.S. Pushkin, Moscow.
Performers include: Alexandra Ursulyak, Alexander Matrosov, Anastasia Lebedeva, Alexander Arsentiev, Vera Voronkova, Andrey Sukhov, Irina Petrova, Alexander Dmitriev, Anna Karmakova, Alexey Rakhmanov, Anna Begunova, Ivan Litvinenko.
Maria Revyakina recalled that the Golden Mask festival was first presented in Kazan in 2004. “This is our second meeting,” she said. “We highly appreciate the work of all your theaters and would like to thank the President of Tatarstan and the Ministry of Culture of Russia and Tatarstan for supporting this project.”
The director of the Pyotr Fomenko Workshop theater, Andrei Vorobyov, noted in turn that their team has traveled all over the world and visited many regions of Russia. “We are happy to be in Kazan,” he said. “We found ourselves in an amazing theater, immersed in an atmosphere of love and hospitality.”
The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova said that it was originally planned to launch a large-scale project "Theater Autumn" in Kazan this fall, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, adjustments were made. She expressed hope that these plans will be implemented next year and the Golden Mask festival will be held in other cities of Tatarstan. Speaking about the purpose of holding such theatrical festivals, Irada Ayupova expressed confidence that such events are necessary for republican theaters for further development, movement forward, for them, in her opinion, this is a powerful stimulus to growth.
“If there is no professional search, there is no experiment in the theatrical art, then this theater will not be adapted to the perception of the modern audience. You need this to set up your beacons, set people up to move on, experiment, develop. I am glad that, despite the difficulties, we managed to organize the Golden Mask festival in Kazan, - concluded Irada Ayupova.
At the end of the meeting, the Moscow guests presented the Tatarstan Minister of Culture with a memorable gift with the Golden Mask symbol.
