From September 25 to the end of October, for the first time in Almetyevsk, the Festival of Contemporary Scientific Cinema FANK will be held.
FANK is a project created in Moscow and traveling all over Russia, which annually holds 3-5 city festivals. Almetyevsk will become the twenty-second city of this event.
The opening of the FANK will take place on September 25, 2020 at the Neftche Palace of Culture at 19:00. Due to the epidemiological situation, part of the festival program will be held online. Participation is free.
FANK, as an educational movement, unites various means of interpreting scientific ideas and meanings: author's documentary films about science, modern scientific theater, science shows and workshops for children's scientific and technical creativity, lectures, discussions and career guidance meetings with scientists and representatives of creative professions.
The FANK program included films "More than Honey" (directed by Markus Imhof, Switzerland, Germany, 2012) about the mass death of bees, which, according to Einstein, is a harbinger of the death of mankind; "Brain. The Second Universe ”(directed by Yulia Kiseleva, Russia, 2017) - how consciousness works and what actually stands behind our decisions and actions; "Earth. One Wonderful Day "(directed by Richard Dale, Great Britain, 2017) - incredibly beautiful observation of wildlife in different parts of the world, voiced by the well-known Nikolai Drozdov; The Human Scale (directed by Andreas Dalsgård, Denmark, 2012) is about the interaction between man and the metropolis as observed by the Danish architect and professor Jan Gale.
In addition to film screenings, the festival will host an online excursion to one of the most famous laboratories in the world - CERN, where the Large Hadron Collider was built.
