14 September 2020, Monday

On September 15 at 15:00 at the Museum of Islamic Culture the opening of the exhibition "The Koran in translations into the languages of the peoples of the world (to the 75th anniversary of Shamil Zakirov)" will take place.

Shamil Zinnurovich Zakirov (1945-2012) - a public and theatrical figure who donated 613 unique exhibits to the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve, including the Korans, translations and interpretations of the Holy Book, works on the Koranic sciences, much more. These materials are stored and studied in the funds of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve, and are also important exhibits in many exhibition projects.

The exhibition presents materials, most of which were transferred by Shamil Zakirov. Materials of the Museum of the Tatar State Academic Theater named after Galiaskar Kamal reveal the context of the creation of the collection.

The exhibition introduces the collection of Korans in European (Russian, English, Polish, Portuguese, Finnish, etc.) and Eastern (Japanese, Urdu, Hindi, Chinese) languages, as well as in the languages of the peoples of Russia and the CIS countries. The geography of the editions of the Qur'an shows the breadth of the publishing interest in the main book of Muslims.

The presented books have dedicatory inscriptions, on some of them you can see a special seal with the legend “Kol Shәrif mәchete Korәn kitaphanse” (“Library of the Korans of the Kul Sharif mosque”), with the imprint of which Shamil Zakirov marked the books of his collection. Some copies were donated by natives of Russia living abroad and colleagues in the creative workshop.

The exhibition will run until the end of October 2020.
