11 September 2020, Friday

In support of regional artistic forces, the Institute for  Study of Street Art, within the framework of the public art program "Tales of Golden Apples", is launching from October to December an educational project, the City After School, and announces an open call to the first laboratory. The project is being implemented with the support of the Tatneft company.

Participation is free!

The “City After”   School is a series of design labs for those who want to professionally pursue art in public spaces and for city residents who want to learn new skills. The main objectives of the project are to convey knowledge of working in an urban space, examining it from the point of view of an artist, architect, anthropologist and a passer-by, mastering interaction skills in an interdisciplinary team, as well as the experience of submitting and defending a draft design. The goal is to comprehend the vision of the genius of a place, understanding space as a synthesis of nature, human influence, history, imaginary layers of images, new media, and of course, the people who lived in this place and are living now.

The first design laboratory within the project - "Nature in the City / City in Nature" will start in October. Participants will learn how to work with landscape in a dense urban environment and with artistic objects in a natural landscape. Under the guidance of professional curators - architect Olena Grankina and landscape gardening engineer Igor Safiullin, they will analyze two practical cases: the nature of the city courtyard and the landscape of the spring. Then, in multidisciplinary teams, they will create 2 art projects with possible subsequent implementation.
